Blues Bastards is a four-member blues band from Helsinki, Espoo and Lohja, South-Finland. The band was founded during autumn 2003. If you liked Bluesbreakers, Albert King, Elmore James or maybe even Stevie Ray Vaughan, you'll definitely love Blues Bastars, too.
Along with evergreen pearls of blues, the band is also capable to switch to fierce rock'n roll. All members of Blues Bastards have been around on music scene for decades, so if this band lacked something, it definitely wasn't experience or expertise.
The Band
Neil Berrymen, guitar and vocals
Neil is a versatile artist, who is best known as the master of Rhythm 'n' blues. He performed for several years as the foreman of the Oiling Boiling R&B band and the singing guitarist of the Henry 'O Band in Finland. Neil has performed on numerous Jazz and Blues festivals and clubs around the world. Before movng to Finland he worked as professional musician in London, New York, Zürich and Nizza. The additional flavour to Neil's playing is definitely given by his graduation from the Leeds College of Music.
Sauli "Hoochie-Coochie Man" Törmälä, bass and vocals
A boogie-crusher with attitude hard as rock. Sauli's roots lay in the 70's legendary band Atlas. He can learn any new song in about 10 seconds. Sauli has also a great talent with guitar and vocals. He is the energetic organizer of the band, always full of new ideas.
Jomppe "Porsu" Vuorinen, drums
As a blues-drummer, Jorma isn't anymore a person - he's already a concept. In past he has played for example in the oldest blues band in Finland, The 'Hojas Blues Band' and in Big Papa Auvinen's 'Blues For Sale'. You simply can't hear more grooving shuffle from anybody else in Finland.
Rudi Merz, harmonica
Rudi is a true play-by-feel -artist who doesn't bring his best forth until on concerts. Every single note Rudi plays is pure blues. He is a top-class carpenter who - as a native-born Swiss - is also capable to yodel!.
